great comfort and durability
i purchased this shoe on the advice of a friend that runs seriously. he works for a specialty shop that caters to runners exclusively and the female owner would not wear anything else. i found out why, it is lightweight, comfortable with good support and toe box comfort. i had been getting bruising at the base of both great toes for no apparent reason. this was corrected by a change in shoe. i have been struck by the longevity of the shoe as i purchased it some 3 yrs ago. i dont run near as often as some, but honestly if they had never hit the road i wouldnt have expected them to last this long.

i believe i paid around $85(regular price at the time) for my pair so this price could be a little more competitive, but the value may still be there.

Great shoe.
I purchased this shoe after having my foot analyzed at the Expo for the Country Music Marathon. I was running in the Brooks Adrenaline. This shoe is like the Adrenaline only it has less stability and more flexability. It has worked much better for me. My feet dont hurt as much after my run. The flexibility has added much comfort to my run. Great shoe.

a perfect fit
i just started running regularly about a year and a half ago and before that sporadically. I have wider feet and have the hardest time finding a good fit. I’ve tried on dozens of running shoes including shoes by nike, adidas, aasics, reebok, among others. i’m thrilled that i have finally found a perfect match. the defyance 2 is well made and durable even for long distance running. I’ve ran a marathon and 1/2 marathon with them with no blisters afterwards. if you’re looking for a good neutral running shoe, this is definitely one to look into. when i find a good discount on these shoes i plan to buy another 5 pairs or so

These are high quality woman’s running shoes with arch support
We went to a boutique running shoe store to get a great running shoe. The store measured pressure points electronically (you could see where your feet put pressure when standing and walking). This was used by the salesman to advise us of the most appropriate shoe.

We bought one for $115. We were advised that it is best to have a running shoe reserved only for running. However these shoes are so comfortable, that my spouse wanted another pair for walking around. The exact same shoe was available here on Amazon for $99.

If you need good arch support, these are great shoes. My suggestion to anyone reading this, is to go to a high quality running store, let them determine what sort of shoe you need, then either purchase one pair at the store, or come back and see if it is offered for less here at Amazon.

The shoe from Amazon was the exact same shoe we got from the boutique running store, only it was delivered to our door and was $16 less.

Great Stabilty Shoe
I am a long distance runner and run 40+ miles per week. I was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis and from bad blisters. I went into Road Runner Sports and these shoes were recommended partially because I tend to heel strike. Since wearing these shoes my Plantar Fasciitis is gone and I rarely get a blister. These shoes tend to hold up pretty well on long runs for me which are 15+ miles and because of the fact the insole is liquid I found these shoes do not need a “rest day” and really do perform well. They are a bit on the expensive side but these shoes are supposed to last 500 miles unlike some shoes that are about $25 less that last about 250-300 miles. So it is worth the investment.
***UPDATE I got 504.60 miles plus some walking miles( walking a mile or so home from a run) out of these shoes. I hate wearing any other shoe at this point. I have reordered another pair. I also did a few races in these shoes and PR’ed they are light and springy. I adore these shoes***

Skip the Podiatrist, Says My Podiatrist!
My podiatrist told me he would have 75% fewer clients if everyone wore Brooks Beasts. These are the best shoes for folks with flat feet and heavy pronation. At first they feel clunky and look big, but you soon get used to it once you realize that your feet don’t hurt anymore! I walked Disney for three straight days in these and never complained, but yet a few hours in trendy shoes and I wince the next morning. I wish Brooks made athletic cleats, I would buy those too.

Money very well spent, and I will never buy any other brand of running shoe but Brooks.

Stay injury free
I have been walking and running in the Brook Beast for more than 5 years and find it an excellent shoe for both comfort and for staying injury free. I’m not a heavy runner: 160 lbs and 5’11. Also I’m nearing 65. But for me this shoe allows me to run in comfort and since switching from other brands I’ve experienced no injuries and almost no knee pain. For runners who need stability, run on asphalt as I do, and want to protect the joints, I highly recommend you buy THE BEAST. It’s stylist and long lasting too.

Elite shoe for the big athlete
The Beast is an elite level shoe for big athletes, or bigger runners who have orthopedic considerations. The flat last gives a great ride and it has plenty of support and cushioning for larger runners with pronation and/or supination concerns. This shoe is premium and Amazon’s price for it was $40 below my local retail outlets and my special size needs (4E) were not a problem.
